TOURISM IN KERALA

Kerala is an exotic mixture of nature at its very best. With  high ranges of Western Ghats on the east and Arabian Sea on the West, Kerala is said to have sprung from the ocean. All along its coast, lagoons and inlets create an intricate maze that stretches for 1900 km across the land. The emerald paddy fields, virgin forests, the sheltered coves and white sands are very attractive. The quality of life compared to developed nations and almost fully literate population in this beautiful land are important factors that help transform Kerala into an important tourist destination.
Moderate climate and the rich art and culture are positive factors to foster tourism developments.

Kerala tourism has recorded remarkable growth in the last few years. As per the survey of South Indian Confederation of Indian Industries published in Malayala Manorama on 6/11/07, indicates a growth of 20-30% foreign tourists arrival and 40-50% in income from foreign tourists arrival in Kerala. Tourism has emerged as one of the few economic alternatives to develop the state economy. It has been recognized as an important sector for the development because of its potential for generating income and employment. Thus tourism is likely to be the engine of growth giving a big push to Kerala's economy in the coming years.
